For many people who are not familiar with this page and the history. You may wonder how it got started:
In August of 2012, an idea came across my computer at the time. More political than anything. A page called Concerned Citizens for Vincennes. The page grew from being concerned locally on events, issues, and anything in between to coverage of scanner related news items and so on.
Format started changing to include Law Enforcement News, weekly events calendar, missing persons to missing animals.
The page had done a story in 2013 about the Vincennes Animal Shelter aka "The Pet Port". Mainly started with a public outcry over the Shelter taking a family dog that bit someone. We'll, that what was told by then Director.
We had posted story after story of cases of dogs coming up missing or being taken without reason. Even one story of a lady who came in from work and her landlord had her dog removed cause he had nipped him. The Shelter claimed they didn't have the dog.
Many emails were sent to community leaders. This story went deep. Finally, the director was removed along with deputy director and new faces were brought in to change direction.
2014 came to pass and direction of the Page had came full circle. We welcomed in early of 2014: Vincennes Daily Informer.
Came new challenges and visions. Set sites on creation of news source that would branch outward and beyond. With live feeds and still continuing the same format only updated to include more photos, and videos.
This page to this point had already 2500 to 3000 followers.
We were running good until everything hit the bricks.
Between the frustration of work, frustration keeping materials updated, and many others. The page had to take a back seat for awhile.
Minimal posting and interaction, plus possible reboots: lead to more delays.
In 2023: The page was rebranded, rebuilt, and a different design was done. The Vincennes Daily Informer was being used again. This time to launch a political campaign. Which, that didn't work out very well. Got back into doing live feeds, Daily news headlines, occasional Op-Ed topics, and law enforcement news. Also adding Daily topics, arrested records, and free-roaming conversations.
Plans for 2024 was to be more productive, more materials, and go further than the page has ever gone. Many followers thought was to bold, and they wanted the page stay tuned into local. Middle part of 2024, we decided to upgrade the page to "Vincennes Independent Media"
That didn't last until about four months.
Controversy started swirling around news stories, and even led to the termination of employment.
The page was on the verge of being deleted cause of all the controversy.
Until one day someone had asked: " You have a functional, awesome page. Why would you delete it over some controversial b.s."
Decisions....
Until the idea of Kno-Vin came up.
Networking was the baseline on to connect one with another. Along the baseline came back to the media aspect.
This is where we are today : 6.6k followers. Many people have left. The page is still Independent and does a few stories from time to time. Helps being supportive with non profit, law enforcement, and small businesses. Hopefully this helps with some of the history of this page.
Thank you for all the trials, love, and support
